Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) held the 2026 entrance ceremony and orientation for new students at the Jeonju Indoor Gymnasium on February 12 and welcomed students beginning their university life.

The event was attended by President Yang O-bong, senior university officials, representatives of the colleges, new students, and their parents, who celebrated the students' new start together.

The entrance ceremony, which opened with remarks from President Yang O-bong, declared admission for 6,207 incoming students (4,769 undergraduate, 1,100 master's, and 338 doctoral students).

Through the ceremony, JBNU encouraged new students to reflect on the significance of taking their first steps as members of the university community and to foster a sense of belonging and pride.

The subsequent orientation provided guidance on all aspects of university life.

The orientation comprehensively provided information new students need, including course registration and academic administration, major and general education curricula, scholarship and financial aid programs, student welfare and counseling services, student self-governing bodies and club activities, and how to use key campus facilities.

Relevant departments participated directly and provided practical, work-oriented explanations, offering a wider range of information about university life.

In addition, department-level orientations provided tailored guidance by major, and welcome programs and participatory events were held to enhance the atmosphere.

Prior to the event, JBNU conducted pre-event facility safety inspections. On the day of the event, operations and safety personnel were deployed on site to maintain order and prevent accidents.

In his welcome address, President Yang O-bong said, "We will spare no effort to support you across education, scholarships, and career development so that you can adapt to university life steadily and expand your potential through learning and challenge," adding, "JBNU will be a reliable partner in realizing your dreams."
