Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) future nursing professionals visited Washington, D.C., United States, gaining firsthand experience of advanced overseas healthcare sites and strengthening their global competencies.

JBNU College of Nursing (Dean Seok-hee Jeong) recently announced on the 12th that, as part of the 'Future Nursing Talent Glocal Competency Enhancement Program', Department Chair Ji-hyun Baek and 21 students visited the United States to observe advanced healthcare settings, educational systems, and clinical operations and to explore various global career pathways.

This overseas training, arranged for the second consecutive year following last year's program, is being continuously promoted as part of an educational strategy to provide students with experience on the global stage and to raise the university's internationalization index.

Participants visited world-class healthcare and research institutions, including the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, Johns Hopkins Hospital, the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH), and Inova Hospital, where they toured advanced medical facilities and operational systems.

They also received presentations on the roles and working conditions of U.S. nurses and local employment procedures, giving them a concrete understanding of the professional competencies required in global practice settings.

Notably, during the training period the JBNU College of Nursing achieved the milestone of signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Columbia College in the United States to strengthen international exchange and educational cooperation.

Under the agreement, the two institutions plan to continue cooperating to cultivate global nursing talent by expanding student exchanges and operating joint educational programs.

The agreement is significant in that it further expands the JBNU College of Nursing's international network while establishing a foundation that provides students with concrete opportunities for overseas education and career linkage.

Dean Seok-hee Jeong of the JBNU College of Nursing said, 'Through this program we have broadened students' international perspectives. We will continue to actively pursue a variety of overseas training opportunities and international cooperation initiatives and develop them into a regularized educational curriculum.'
