As part of the Regional Innovation-centered University Support System (RISE), Jeonbuk Saemangeum Tech Platform University (Director Choi Jin-ha) will hold the '2026 JST Shared University (Undergraduate & Graduate) Convergence Major Orientation' at 10:00 AM on February 13, 2026, in the 77th Anniversary Memorial Hall on the 1st floor of Jinsudang at Jeonbuk National University (JBNU).
The orientation is designed to support a smooth academic start for newly selected students in the JST Shared University’s 2026 Convergence Majors—330 undergraduates and 90 graduate students—by providing guidance on curriculum composition, class operation methods, course registration, and overall academic administration.
In particular, the orientation will comprehensively introduce the completion systems and requirements for the Convergence Majors, foundational major programs, Microdegree programs, and the graduate MicroMasters program operated by the JST Shared University, with an emphasis on helping students systematically plan their academic pathways.
It will also expand opportunities for communication with students by providing guidance on JST Shared University academic administration and completion systems, introducing the Innovation Talent Support Fund and tailored student support benefits, explaining extracurricular programs and the use of the JST SynergyUP platform, and holding Q&A and participatory programs.
In addition, a certificate-awarding ceremony for students who completed the Microdegree program in the second semester of the 2025 academic year will be held.
Key figures representing the region and universities are expected to attend the event, including Yang O-bong, President of Jeonbuk National University (JBNU); Kim Jong-hoon, Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs of Jeollabuk-do; Jeong Byung-jong, Head of the Jeonbuk RISE Center; Son Jeong-min, Director of the JBNU RISE Project Group; Jang Min-seok, Director of the RISE Project Group at Kunsan National University; and Kwon O-sang, Deputy Director of the RISE Project Group at Wonkwang University.
Choi Jin-ha, Director of Jeonbuk Saemangeum Tech Platform University, stated, 'This orientation will serve as a starting point not only for explaining the system but also for concretizing academic roadmaps that enable students to grow into convergence-oriented talent.' He added, 'Through the shared university model that brings together the region, universities, and industry, we will do our best to cultivate the core talent that will lead future industries.'
