Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) announced on the 9th that Professor Ho-seong Jo of the College of Veterinary Medicine received a Minister's Citation from the Ministry of Science and ICT in the 2025 Government Awards for Contributions to R&D Budget Allocation and Adjustment.
This citation was awarded in recognition of his contributions to setting investment directions for the national research and development (R&D) budget, strengthening strategic focus, and facilitating efficient budget allocation and adjustment.
Since 2025, Professor Jo has served as chair of the Bio-Manufacturing and Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Expert Committee of the Deliberative Committee of the National Science and Technology Advisory Council, leading consulting and review of national R&D projects in the white bio and green bio fields.
He also served from 2023 to 2024 as a member of the Life and Medical Expert Committee of the National Science and Technology Advisory Council, participating in the planning and review of national R&D projects in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries and health and medical sectors. This participation was also evaluated as a major contribution to the award.
Professor Jo has been a professor in the Department of Veterinary Medicine at JBNU's College of Veterinary Medicine since 2010. He said, "Based on my accumulated research and teaching experience as a veterinarian and researcher, I will contribute to the efficient allocation and adjustment of the national R&D budget suited to the AI-driven transformation and the era of science and technology innovation."
