Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Professor Seung-woo Baek (Department of Agricultural Economics and Distribution) received the Minister's Commendation from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs in recognition of his contributions to stabilizing domestic vegetable supply and advancing the horticultural industry.
Professor Baek was highly commended for his active cooperation with government policies in the fields of vegetables and specialty crops and for leading efforts to establish stable domestic vegetable supply chains despite supply instability caused by climate change and shifts in consumer trends.
In particular, Professor Baek has served as a bridge between agricultural production sites and distribution markets, proposing practical policy alternatives to increase farm incomes and stabilize consumer prices. His work is credited with significantly enhancing the competitiveness of the horticultural industry and fostering a sustainable agricultural ecosystem.
Professor Seung-woo Baek said, 'I received this commendation on behalf of the farmers and researchers who quietly work in the field for the development of our agriculture and the stabilization of agricultural supply,' adding, 'I will continue to contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of our horticultural industry and creating an environment where producers and consumers can coexist through systematic research and education.'
