Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) officially opened the 'JBNU Group Pavilion' at CES 2026, the world’s largest ICT and innovation exhibition held in Las Vegas, USA. The pavilion, based on the RISE (Regional Innovation-Centered University Support System) project, marks the start of JBNU's active promotion of the global expansion of regional innovative technologies.
This pavilion opening was organized to concentratively present the outcomes of the RISE project, which is being implemented with support from the Ministry of Education and the Jeollabuk-do Provincial Government. It is significant in that it established a model for global expansion based on industry–university–research collaboration linking university-held technologies with regional companies.
JBNU will operate an exhibition booth at Venetian EXPO Hall G in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, from January 6–9, 2026, and will present six promising technologies and products that reflect CES’s core technology trends, including next-generation communications, digital health, spatial and mobility AI, and smart displays. This exhibition was carried out as part of the JBNU RISE Project Group's enterprise support program, and administrative and financial support for participation in global exhibitions was also provided to participating researchers and companies.
In particular, at CES 2026, the portable spatial information acquisition device 'SnapSpace', developed by Professor Hyung-gi Cho's research team in the Division of Electronic Engineering at JBNU, won a CES Innovation Award in the Construction & Industrial Tech category. 'SenseFEEL', developed by Professor Ki-uk Kim's research team at the Innovation Medical Device Center, Jeonbuk National University Hospital, won a CES Innovation Award in the Digital Health category.
This achievement is seen as symbolic, demonstrating that technologies developed through collaboration among the university, the university hospital, and regional companies and supported by the RISE project have been recognized in the global market for both technical excellence and commercial viability.
SenseFEEL is a hybrid pain diagnostic solution that integrates real and virtual stimuli, and it was recognized for its medical-device innovation and clinical applicability in the digital healthcare field. SnapSpace, based on ultra-lightweight, low-power spatial mapping technology, was highly evaluated for its industrial scalability in construction, safety, and robotics.
At the JBNU Group Pavilion, the exhibits include ▲5G/6G Millimeter-Wave EIRP-Enhancing AiP Module (Senswave) ▲Neck-Worn Wearable Device for Voice Disorder Diagnosis (Enside Co., Ltd.) ▲Camera-Based Lightweight Mapping and Navigation Device (SnapSpace) ▲Hybrid Pain Diagnostic Solution (SenseFEEL) ▲Intelligent Mobility System Capable of Real-Time Driving-Environment Perception and Driver Health Monitoring (DY Innovate) ▲Transparent Electronic Banner Using Media Glasses (Iconic Light). Each technology will be introduced to global buyers and investors with a focus on demonstrability and industrial scalability.
The JBNU Group Pavilion will function not merely as a technology exhibition but as a platform to internationally disseminate the RISE project's virtuous cycle—from R&D to demonstration, commercialization, and overseas expansion. During CES 2026, JBNU plans to actively pursue follow-up collaborative outcomes, such as joint research, technology transfer, and overseas market entry, through networking with global companies, investment institutions, and research organizations.
Son Jeong-min, Head of the JBNU RISE Project Group (Vice-President of Industry–University Cooperation), said, "The opening of the JBNU Group Pavilion at CES 2026 and the receipt of Innovation Awards exemplify that the innovation capabilities accumulated by the university, the university hospital, and regional companies through the RISE project possess sufficient competitiveness on the global stage. We will continue to strengthen support systems to enable regionally based technologies to expand into the global market."
Meanwhile, since 2023, JBNU has been steadily promoting the global expansion of university-based innovative technologies through CES. At CES 2026, JBNU will again actively showcase the competitiveness of regional innovative technologies to the global market centered on the JBNU Group Pavilion.
