Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) President Yang O-bong donated KRW 10 million to the university's development fund to wish for the institution's continued advancement and the cultivation of future generations in the 2026 Byeong-O New Year. 

On January 2, 2026, a presentation ceremony was held at the President's Office at the University Headquarters. President Yang and key university officials attended the ceremony, where they commemorated the donation and presented him with a plaque of appreciation.

Since taking office, President Yang has donated KRW 10 million each year, practicing exemplary leadership. In particular, this donation was made as a designated fund for the Division of Chemical Engineering, where President Yang has devoted himself to research and education. It expresses his special affection for the department that has been his lifelong research base and for his students. 

On that day, President Yang said, "I sincerely hope that 2026, the Byeong-O year, the Year of the Red Horse, will be a year in which all members of JBNU soar with that passionate energy," and added, "I want to continue supporting JBNU so that it can run boldly beyond the region and onto the global stage."

Executive Vice-President of Student and Academic Affairs Lee Dong-heon said, "President Yang's annual donations have resonated deeply with the university community, instilling pride in the university's development," and added, "The donated funds will be usefully applied in various areas such as strengthening university competitiveness and cultivating outstanding talent." 

Meanwhile, President Yang is devoting his full efforts to elevating JBNU into a world-class research university. He is actively pursuing the successful implementation of the "Glocal University 30" project for mutual development between the region and the university, and is practicing student-centered university management.
