Jaejun Lee, a doctoral student in the Department of Urban Engineering at Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) (Advisor: Professor Yoo‑jeong Kim), recently won the Top Prize at the '2025 Jeonju Big Dream Special Competition'.

In his project, "AI Transfer-Learning-Based Prediction, Assessment, and Mitigation Strategies for Heat Stress in Jeonju City," Lee proposed a deep transfer-learning model that fused Seoul's Urban Environment IoT (S-DoT) data with Jeonju City's climate and environmental data, receiving high acclaim. In particular, the proposed model was recognized for its academic and policy significance because it precisely predicts heat‑vulnerable areas and proposes tailored mitigation measures to reduce spatial inequities within the city.

Lee said, "I will use this award as an opportunity to further deepen my research on urban heat response and adaptation to the climate crisis."
