Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) announced on the 24th that PhD candidate Suji Cho of the Department of Sport Science (Advisor: Professor Sanghyun Kim) received the Jeonbuk Provincial Governor's Award in recognition of her contributions to the development of local sports.

This award is presented to individuals who, based on their expertise in the fields of physical education and exercise, have contributed to the activation of community sports and the improvement of local residents' health.

Cho has been highly regarded for her active participation in field-centered sports activities and educational programs, grounded in her specialization in exercise prescription and sport science.

In particular, her management of sports and exercise programs for local residents, expertise-driven coaching activities, and efforts to realize the public value and sustainability of sports were cited as key reasons for the award. These activities were also evaluated as aligning with Jeonbuk Province's policy direction of 'creating a sports environment that innovates and grows together.'

Cho stated, 'I consider this recognition not as a personal achievement but rather the result of persistent efforts in the field together with my advisor, Professor Sanghyun Kim. I will continue to work hard to connect sport science research with field practice and to contribute to the development of the local community and sports.'

Meanwhile, JBNU's Department of Sport Science has established itself as a department that grows together with the local community through education and research that link theory and practice. This award is regarded as recognition of both the research capabilities and social contributions of its graduate students.
