Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) College of Dentistry's 21st graduating class donated KRW 40 million to support the development of their alma mater and the education of future students. This meaningful donation was made by alumni who, over the past 20 years, have contributed to society as dentists or faculty members and wished to express their gratitude to their alma mater.
The Jeonbuk National University Development Foundation held a donation ceremony on December 17 at the President's Office in the University Headquarters, with Yang Oh-bong, President, senior university officials, and College of Dentistry representatives in attendance. At the ceremony, JBNU President Yang Oh-bong and other senior university officials conveyed their gratitude for the donation, including presenting a plaque of appreciation.
All alumni of the JBNU College of Dentistry continue the tradition of devotion to their alma mater by participating in regular annual donations. Following last year's generous contribution by the 20th graduating class, the 21st graduates' gift continues the proud history of the alumni association.
Kim Young-bin, representative of the 21st graduating class who led this donation, graduated from the JBNU College of Dentistry in 2005, completed a clinical fellowship at the JBNU Dental Hospital, and is currently practicing actively in Gunsan.
Kim recalled, "The teaching and opportunities for growth I received at Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) College of Dentistry laid the foundation for my classmates' contributions to society today," and explained the reason for the donation: "We gathered the hearts of our classmates to do something meaningful for our alma mater and junior students."
The fund is a designated fund and scholarship for the College of Dentistry. It will support students in pursuing their goals and will be primarily used to improve the College of Dentistry's research and educational environment and to nurture future talent.
Yang Oh-bong, President of Jeonbuk National University (JBNU), said, "I sincerely thank the 21st alumni association of the College of Dentistry for demonstrating their deep affection for their alma mater and firm commitment to the university's development," adding, "We will honor this generous intention and do our best to ensure that the College of Dentistry develops into a cradle for nurturing world-class talent."
