Dr. Chang‑hee Son, who received a Ph.D. in Engineering from the Department of Urban Engineering at Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) in 2024, has been appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Spatial Design at Kyungbok University, located in Gyeonggi Province, in 2026.
During his studies, Dr. Son was recognized for his research achievements in the urban and spatial fields and developed into a highly capable researcher. Building on his practical experience, he will now actively engage in teaching and research in spatial design at Kyungbok University.
Dr. Son completed a master's program in the U-CITY Department of Construction Engineering at Sungkyunkwan University in 2011. In 2024, he earned a Ph.D. in Engineering from the Department of Urban Engineering at JBNU with a dissertation titled "A Study on Characteristics of Housing-Location Choice and Factors Influencing Intention to Reside Among Young Single-Person Households."
In addition to his doctoral degree, based on research conducted with Professor Jang Han‑du in JBNU's Site Planning Laboratory, Dr. Son has produced academic work on hillside regeneration strategies, old downtown redevelopment measures, neighborhood planning, and urban management. He has delivered 12 academic presentations and published 6 journal articles. He also accumulated more than ten years of practical experience at Mirae E&D and Eoulim Engineering in Seoul and obtained an architectural professional qualification.
