The Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Environmental Health Center (Director Kim Yong-hyun), operated by Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) under commission from the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, will hold the Joint Workshop for Environmental Health Officials of Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province at the Jinan Highland Healing Forest (Jeonbuk Regional Environmental Disease Healing Center) for two days, December 22–23.

The workshop was planned to bring together provincial and municipal environmental health officials to enhance understanding of the latest environmental health policies and to strengthen practical response capabilities in the field. The program features a mix of policy and academic expert lectures, issue-focused discussions, and experiential prevention and healing programs for environmental diseases, covering both theory and practice.

On the first day, December 22, expert lectures addressing key local environmental health issues will be delivered in depth. Four presentations will cover: ▲ Director Kim Yong-hyun's Regional Environmental Health Policy and the Establishment of an Early Surveillance System; ▲ Professor Cho Yong-min of Seokyeong University on the Establishment of an Early Surveillance System for General Industrial Complexes in the Jeonbuk Region; ▲ Director Lee Hwan-hee of the Pusan National University Center for Environmental Health Response to Climate Change on Analysis of Disease Prevalence and Incidence in Jeonbuk and Estimation of Air Pollution; and ▲ Park Seo-hyun, Office Director of the Jeonbuk Environmental Health Center, JBNU, on Radon and Health Impacts. A subsequent plenary discussion will consider measures to enhance the effectiveness of environmental health policies and to build an integrated cooperation system among institutions.

On the second day, on-site experiential programs will utilize the infrastructure of the Jeonbuk Regional Environmental Disease Healing Center, including forest healing and gopdol meditation. Participants will directly experience nature-based interventions and seek ways to apply healing programs from the perspective of preventing and managing environmental diseases.

The Center expects this joint workshop to activate policy communication among environmental health officials in the province and to serve as an opportunity to further advance the prevention and response system for environmental diseases.

Director Kim Yong-hyun stated that the workshop is a meaningful occasion to accurately diagnose local environmental health issues and to cultivate local governments' response expertise, and added that the Center will continue to play a central role in protecting residents' right to health and in providing effective environmental health services.
