Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) College of Nursing Professor Kim Mi-hee (Department of Nursing) donated KRW 20 million to the College of Nursing Development Fund to wish for improved university competitiveness and the education of future generations.
The Jeonbuk National University Development Foundation held a donation ceremony for the development fund on December 11 in the President's Office at University Headquarters. The ceremony was attended by President Yang O-bong, key university officials, and representatives of the College of Nursing. The foundation presented an appreciation plaque to Professor Kim Mi-hee in deep gratitude for her contributions to the university's development.
Professor Kim's donation reflects her long-held wish to contribute to the development of her alma mater that nurtured her, and her sense of responsibility as an educator.
In particular, Professor Kim recalled that "the lessons I learned during my undergraduate studies at Jeonbuk National University became a strong source of nourishment that allowed me to grow as a researcher and educator," and said she now wishes to support junior students, the future talent, as a faculty member of her alma mater's College of Nursing. The fund is a designated fund for the College of Nursing. It will support students as they pursue their goals and will be used primarily to improve the student educational environment.
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from JBNU in 2005, Professor Kim worked as a nurse at Asan Medical Center in Seoul and at Hyundai Information Technology, gaining a deep understanding of practical field skills. She then earned her master's and doctoral degrees from the College of Nursing at Yonsei University and pursued a career as a researcher and educator. In October 2025, she joined her alma mater, the College of Nursing at JBNU, as an assistant professor.
Professor Kim said, "I want to return the teaching and opportunities for growth I received at Jeonbuk National University to the junior students," and added, "I hope that my modest contribution will become a solid stepping stone that helps students move toward their dreams."
