Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) announced on the 8th that DH Group Chairman Lee Jeong-kwon donated KRW 1 billion to its development fund to foster regional talent and will provide scholarships worth KRW 100 million annually.
The Jeonbuk National University Development Foundation held a plaque presentation ceremony in the President's Conference Room on the fourth floor of the University Headquarters, with President Yang O-bong and senior university officials in attendance, and expressed gratitude for Chairman Lee's meaningful donation.
Chairman Lee said, "I decided to donate to contribute to the cultivation of outstanding talent who will lead the future regional community and the nation," and added, "The 'Seoul National University 10-Making' project that JBNU is pursuing is a meaningful initiative that can significantly strengthen the competitiveness of regional universities." He continued, "I want to support JBNU's mid- to long-term plans to expand R&D capabilities and enhance international competitiveness."
A local entrepreneur from Buan, Jeonbuk, Chairman Lee donated KRW 50 million to JBNU's development fund last year, and in 2025 collaborated with JBNU to implement the 'Contracted Enrollment System Utilization Project' to train practice-oriented master's graduates in advanced strategic technology fields, contributing to strengthening talent development at regional national universities. In recognition of these achievements, he received JBNU's Contribution Award this year.
DH Group is a mid-sized company operating 13 domestic and overseas business sites, including two home appliance affiliates (DH Global and DH Jeonggong), four auto parts affiliates (DH Autoread, DH Autowear, DH Autonex, and DH Autoeye), and the Dongtan R&D Center, with annual sales of approximately KRW 1 trillion.
President Yang O-bong said, "The continued interest and support of businesspeople from the region have been a great help in cultivating regional talent," and added, "We deeply appreciate this valuable donation for the university's future development."
