Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) on the 4th signed a memorandum of agreement on international exchange and cooperation with Uzbekistan State World Languages University (President Ilkhomjon Tukhtasinov), and agreed to pursue in-depth cooperation in education and research, including the implementation of a dual degree program.
During the event, President Yang O-bong and President Ilkhomjon Tukhtasinov attended the 2nd Korea-Uzbek University Presidents Forum held in Seoul, met separately to discuss ways to expand international exchange and cooperation between the two institutions, and signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) on implementing a dual degree program.
Through this agreement, the two institutions agreed to actively pursue a 2+2 dual degree program and an exchange student program. This will provide JBNU students with broader international educational opportunities and give students of Uzbekistan State World Languages University the chance to experience Korea's outstanding higher education environment.
President Yang O-bong said, "The signing of this memorandum of agreement will greatly broaden exchanges between the two universities," adding, "The combination of JBNU's excellent education and research infrastructure and the Uzbekistan State World Languages University's growth potential will create a win-win model of cooperation for both institutions."
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan State World Languages University is the principal institution overseeing foreign language education in Uzbekistan, focusing on the training of foreign language teachers in Korean, English, Russian, and other languages. It has a total of 47 departments (including graduate programs) and enrolls approximately 24,000 students.
