Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) is actively responding to the national policy to develop regional national university hubs for balanced national development and is joining forces with a global leading company to strengthen core future-technology capabilities based on Physical AI.

JBNU on the 2nd (Tuesday) at the University Headquarters signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Nokia Korea titled "MOU for Physical AI Cooperation and the Development of Regional National University Hubs," and decided to actively pursue research, education, and industry collaboration centered on industry-driven talent development.

Under this agreement, the two institutions will pursue multifaceted cooperation, including joint research in Physical AI convergence fields and the establishment of a convergence platform, the development of company-demand-tailored education and training programs, reciprocal use of testing and analysis equipment and research facilities, the creation of a region-based employment and start-up ecosystem, and support for technology transfer and commercialization. To operationalize these measures, they plan to form a working-level consultative body to jointly carry out project planning, operation, and performance management.

JBNU expects this cooperation to contribute to its transition into a specialized research university and to innovation in AI convergence education. By applying global ICT technological capabilities to local industry sites, it anticipates promoting innovation in the industry–university–research collaboration ecosystem.

JBNU President Yang Oh-bong stated, "By building a Physical AI-based future industry research and education and start-up ecosystem together with the global leading company Nokia, we will take the lead in the national balanced development strategy," and added, "Through industry–university–research collaboration, we will create a successful innovation model that expands from the region to the world."
