"I wanted to share the joy of completing a marathon with my neighbors."
Jeonbuk National University (JBNU)'s Iksan Specialized Campus is home to a Slow Jogging Club made up of faculty and staff (President Son Chan-wook). The club has warmed hearts by sharing the prizes they received for completing a marathon with their neighbors.
Members of the Iksan Specialized Campus Slow Jogging Club participated in the 23rd Gochang Dolmen Marathon held on November 16 and, on November 26, delivered 40 kg of rice and modest gifts they received as completion souvenirs to the child welfare facility "Gidok Samae-won" in Iksan.
Despite busy work and daily routines, the club members prepared for the race for about four months, training together and strengthening camaraderie among members. At the event, four staff members, including Sang-geun Lee, completed the 10 km course.
Staff member Sang-geun Lee said, "We united the club members' wish to share the rice we received after running with local children and decided to make a small but meaningful donation. We are even more grateful and pleased to be able to share the overwhelming emotion of completing the race with our neighbors."
The director of Gidok Samae-won said, "We were deeply moved when we received the call offering to donate the completion souvenirs. We will use them carefully for the children," and expressed gratitude.
