Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) has declared its commitment to eradicate drunk driving and sexual misconduct. From a morning-commute campaign on November 24 to an official pledge ceremony, the university publicly affirmed its determination to establish a safe and sound campus culture for all members.

The campaign took place from 8:30 a.m. at three main entrances of the Jeonju Campus — the Main Gate, West Gate, and North Gate — with President Yang Oh-bong and other university officials participating in person.

Leaflets on eradicating drunk driving and sexual misconduct and a total of 1,500 hand warmers were distributed to faculty, staff, and students. The event provided an opportunity for members to reaffirm their own safety awareness.

After the campaign, at 9:00 a.m., a pledge ceremony to eradicate drunk driving and sexual misconduct was held in the President's Conference Room on the 4th floor of the University Headquarters.

With President Yang Oh-bong and other university officials in attendance, Lee Dong-heon, Executive Vice-President of Student and Academic Affairs, read the pledge on behalf of the officials, and all office holders formally confirmed the university's commitment to act.

The pledge specified the responsibilities of university members, including refraining from driving after drinking and driving while hungover, prohibiting aiding or abetting drunk driving, banning all forms of sexual misconduct such as sexual harassment and sexual violence, promoting mutual respect and discouraging discriminatory language and behavior, and participating in prevention education.

President Yang Oh-bong emphasized, "Drunk driving and sexual misconduct are serious matters that cannot be tolerated even as a single mistake, and they directly affect the university's credibility and the safety of the community. When all JBNU members act responsibly and cultivate a culture of mutual respect, the university can develop more healthily." He added, "We will continuously strengthen preventive measures and integrity practices so that this pledge is not a one-time event."
