The JEONGROW Team, composed of students from Jeonbuk National University (JBNU)'s Agricultural Entrepreneurship Specialization Project Group, won the Excellence Award at the '2025 Performance Presentation for the Convergence-Type Young Farmer Talent Development Education Program' recently held under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Agriculture Policy Agency.
The JEONGROW Team's achievements were highly praised for practically realizing a virtuous cycle that links education, fieldwork, and outcomes beyond simple coursework.
JBNU's Agricultural Entrepreneurship Specialization Project Group has faithfully implemented an education system aligned with national policy directions this year, including a practice-oriented curriculum, enhanced field training and mentoring, a convergence-team startup camp, and farmer problem-solving projects.
On this foundation, the JEONGROW Team designed an integrated platform called "Local ON" that connects farms, local festivals, and experiential programs. Through field-centered research processes — including farmer interviews, analysis of local and festival data, and user surveys — the team presented a practical model to revitalize rural tourism and strengthen farmers' promotional capabilities, receiving strong approval from the judges.
The judges commented, "JBNU's JEONGROW Team is one of the teams that most faithfully realized the purpose of the Agricultural Entrepreneurship Specialization Project by organically connecting education and the field."
JEONGROW Team leader Hong Jeong-je, a fourth-year student in the Department of Electrical Engineering, said, "Thanks to the practice-centered education and field-based projects I experienced at the Agricultural Entrepreneurship Specialization Project Group, I was able to directly design a new model that connects local resources and programs with farms. This experience has given me great confidence in deciding my future career in the agricultural field."
