Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Industry-University Cooperation (Vice-President Son Jeong-min) operates the Jeonbuk Regional Childcare Support Center (Center Director Kim Byung-su), which held the "2025 Childcare Support Project Performance Report Meeting" at Jeonju Signature Hotel on November 19 to share this year’s achievements and discuss directions for next year’s development.
The report meeting was attended by about 150 people, including staff of childcare centers and caregivers from 14 cities and counties in the province. In the first part, the provincial governor’s commendation was presented to outstanding staff and caregivers dedicated to the Childcare Support Project, and the Regional Center Director’s Award was presented to Gochang County and Buan County Childcare Centers (directly operated), which were selected as outstanding institutions this year.
Also, an outstanding case from a multicultural family that won the Excellence Award in the Korea Healthy Family Association essay contest and an outstanding caregiver case were introduced, providing an opportunity to reflect on the social value of childcare.
Son Jeong-min, Vice-President of Industry-University Cooperation at JBNU, said, "Your efforts in practicing the meaning of care are the force that enables healthy children to grow up in safe and happy environments. As a flagship national university, we will do our best to build a sustainable care ecosystem together with the local community."
In the following second part, a special lecture by a play-activity expert introduced "play-centered caregiving methods" that can be used in the field. Attending caregivers had a practical training opportunity to learn play-based caregiving techniques appropriate to child development.
Kim Byung-su, Director of the Jeonbuk Regional Childcare Support Center, said, "I hope the performance report meeting will be an opportunity for Jeonbuk childcare policy to take a further leap forward, and we will continue to work to establish a stronger support system."
Meanwhile, the "Childcare Support Project" is a national public care service led by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, in which caregivers visit households with children aged 13 and under when a caregiving gap occurs to provide care. The Jeollabuk Provincial Government established the Jeonbuk Regional Childcare Support Center to ensure the stable operation of the childcare service, and JBNU Industry-University Cooperation operates it under consignment. The Healthy Family Support Project Group under Industry-University Cooperation (Director Professor Jeong Yujin, Department of Child Studies) handles practical operations and works to improve the quality of care services in the province.
