Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Professor Sang-ik Oh (College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Veterinary Medicine; Bio-Safety Research Institute) received the 'Young Scientist Award' at the recent academic conference of the Korean Veterinary Medical Association.
The 'Young Scientist Award' is presented to outstanding researchers aged 40 or under who have contributed to the advancement of veterinary science and the enhancement of research competitiveness. Recipients are selected based on a comprehensive assessment of research achievements and international impact.
Professor Oh has consistently conducted research to elucidate the pathogenic mechanisms and pathophysiological changes of various animal diseases. Over the past five years, he has published more than 30 SCIE papers and has remained actively engaged in scholarly activity.
In particular, through international collaborative research, he has investigated the pathological characteristics of African swine fever (ASF) in infected pigs and the host–virus interactions, attracting attention from the domestic and international academic community.
Professor Sang-ik Oh said, 'I am deeply honored to receive such a meaningful award. I thank the domestic and international researchers who have collaborated with me. I will continue to devote myself to research on major animal diseases, including ASF, and to mentoring the next generation.'
