Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) College of Arts (Dean Imi-bae) will share the outcomes of arts education and expand cultural exchange with the local community through an integrated arts festival. JBNU announced on the 19th that it will hold the "2025 JBNU Arts Festival With the Local Community" at the on-campus Samsung Arts Center and the JBNU International Convention Center from the 20th to the 2nd of the following month.
The festival has been planned to feature, in concentrated form over approximately two weeks, graduation exhibitions and regular performances that were previously held separately by each department. The focus is on offering local residents richer and more diverse opportunities to enjoy the arts. Visitors will be able to directly experience students' creative abilities on stage and in exhibition spaces, establishing the event as a venue for enhanced university–community communication and for sharing learning achievements.
The festival involves five departments: the Department of Korean Music, the Department of Dance, the Department of Music, the Department of Fine Arts, and the Department of Industrial Design.
The performance program will take place in the Yeongsan Hall at the Samsung Arts Center. It opens on the 20th and 21st with the Department of Korean Music's changgeuk and gugak orchestral performances, followed by the Department of Dance graduation performance on the 26th, and the Department of Music's regular concert on the 29th featuring Mozart's opera Così fan tutte.
In the exhibition program, the Department of Fine Arts' graduation exhibition will run at the Samsung Arts Center exhibition hall from the 20th to December 2nd, and the Department of Industrial Design's graduation exhibition, under the theme "Coexistence of Individuality and Creativity," will be held at the JBNU International Convention Center from the 25th.
President Yang O-bong explained the significance of the event, saying, "Art captures the breath of the region and serves as a bridge between generations. This arts festival is growing into a comprehensive JBNU arts festival that university members and local residents alike can enjoy and participate in together."
Dean Imi-bae of the College of Arts emphasized, "This is a place where students' creativity and passion resonate with the local community. It will be a meaningful time to share the College of Arts' values with the region."
Meanwhile, detailed schedules for the arts festival can be found on the JBNU website (www.jbnu.ac.kr) under campus notices.
