Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) announced on the 18th that Professor Yoon-Young Kim of the Department of Social Welfare has been appointed as a member of the regional task force (regional TF) of the Presidential Committee on National AI Strategy (Chair: President Lee Jae-myung; full-time Vice Chair: Im Mun-young).

The Presidential Committee on National AI Strategy has operated eight subcommittees since September—Technology Innovation; Industry AX; Public AX; Data; Society; Global Cooperation; Science Talent; and Defense & Security—and on September 23 established three additional task forces to respond more nimbly to the areas of education, security, and regional affairs.

In particular, the regional TF will coordinate with the Presidential Committee on the Local Era (Chair: Kim Kyung-soo) to jointly discuss region-based AI projects and policy issues.

The regional TF is intended to serve as a regional AX (regional AI transition) governance hub that connects central government, local governments, universities, and industry at the regional level. Its goal is to link regional strategic industries, data infrastructure, and talent ecosystems, and to establish sustainable settlement foundations and an industrial structure that supports balanced development.

Professor Yoon-Young Kim said, 'AI transition is not a simple technological experiment but structural reform that will determine how regions grow and survive sustainably.' She added, 'I will work on policy design so that the regional TF becomes a platform that practically promotes inter-regional linkage and super-regional innovation within the framework of five poles and three special zones.'
