JBNU and the Rural Development Administration (Administrator Lee Seung-don) have joined forces to promote balanced regional development and cultivate outstanding talent through the advancement of high‑tech industries, including the establishment of a Physical AI ecosystem.
The two institutions signed a 'Memorandum of Understanding to Establish a Public–Local Win‑Win Model' on November 18 at 11:00 AM in the President's Office on the 4th floor of the JBNU Main Administration Building. President Yang O-bong and Administrator Lee Seung-don, along with key officials, attended the ceremony.
Through this agreement, both organizations will strengthen R&D cooperation to advance cutting‑edge convergent technologies and to enhance multidisciplinary collaboration with rural communities. They will also jointly utilize public data, advanced research facilities, and resources — including AI, agricultural robots, supercomputing sensors, and agri‑bio materials — to expand the research foundation for advanced industries.
They also agreed to jointly operate advanced convergent education programs, including academic‑research collaborative master's and doctoral programs, to cultivate professionals who will lead regional industries. In addition, they will activate exchanges between researchers and practitioners to strengthen a cooperative network for sharing technical information and leading cases.
President Yang O-bong said, 'This agreement is an important starting point where the university's excellent infrastructure and the RDA's agri‑bio research capabilities meet to open a future based on advanced technologies. We will do our utmost to build the Physical AI ecosystem that transforms the region's industrial landscape.'
Administrator Lee Seung-don also stated, 'Through cooperation with JBNU, I expect advanced technologies to spread to the agricultural field, and for our university students to grow into leading figures in the agri‑bio industry.'
