Dr. Min-A Ryu of the Department of Sport Science received the Excellence Award in the AR Paper Contest at the "63rd Annual Conference of the Korean Society of Sport Science, commemorating the 106th National Sports Festival," for her paper "Two Eyes on AR Smart Climbing: Experts' and Participants' Perspectives."
The conference was held at Pusan National University (October 16 Memorial Hall, Humanities Building) from October 17–18 under the theme "Convergence and Future Innovation in Sport Science." It was a large academic event attended by sport science researchers from across the country. On the first day, following the opening ceremony, keynote lectures and academic presentations, awards for outstanding doctoral dissertations and the AR Paper Contest were presented.
Dr. Ryu, together with Tae-Gyu Han, a Ph.D. candidate at Yonsei University, and Dr. Kyung-Min Do of Kyung Hee University, was recognized for the academic contribution of a study on the acceptance of sports climbing using augmented reality (AR) technology and received the Excellence Award.
The awarded paper analyzes factors influencing the acceptance of AR smart climbing from the perspectives of experts and participants. Through Delphi, AHP, and IPA analyses, it empirically elucidates the relationship between technical utility and social impact.
In particular, by focusing on the factors of "peer influence" and "autonomy," the study proposed a bottom-up planning strategy based on participant experience, offering direction for the development of AR sports content and receiving favorable reviews.
Dr. Min-A Ryu commented, "The convergence of AR and sport science is a core research area that connects future-oriented education and participatory sports industries," adding, "I will use this award as an opportunity to further expand research on participant-centered smart sports content development."
