Professor Kim Yun-young (College of Social Science, Department of Social Welfare) was appointed as a member of the Regional Task Force of the Presidential National Artificial Intelligence Strategy Committee (Chair: President Lee Jae-myung; Full-time Vice Chair: Lim Mun-young), the nation’s top-level AI strategy deliberative body, it was announced on the 4th.

Since September, the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy Committee has operated eight subcommittees—Technology Innovation; Industrial AX; Public AX; Data; Society; Global Cooperation; Science Talent; and National Defense & Security—and on September 23 it established three additional task forces to respond more nimbly to the education, security, and regional sectors.

In particular, the Regional TF will coordinate with the Presidential Committee for the Local Era (Chair: Kim Kyung-soo) to jointly discuss region-based AI projects and policy issues.

The Regional TF is conceived as a territorial AX (regional AI transition) governance hub that connects the central government, local governments, universities, and industry. Its goal is to link regional strategic industries, data infrastructure, and talent ecosystems, and to establish sustainable residential foundations and a balanced-development industrial structure.

Professor Kim Yun-young said, "AI transition is not a mere technical experiment but a structural innovation that determines how a region will grow and survive sustainably," and added, "I will devote efforts to policy design so that the Regional TF becomes a platform that practically promotes inter-regional linkage and super-regional innovation within the five-pole, three-special configuration."
