Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) was ranked first among regional national universities in the '2025 Service Quality Index Assessment' conducted by the Korea Standards Association. This marks the seventh consecutive year JBNU has earned first place. Including 2012, 2015, 2017 and each year from 2019 through 2024, this achievement represents the university's tenth time at No. 1.

The assessment surveyed enrolled students, excluding first-year students, to measure university satisfaction. The Korea Standards Association carried out the survey through one-on-one individual interviews and an online panel. It conducted a comprehensive evaluation across four areas—Service Outcome Quality, Service Interaction Quality, Service Environment Quality and Social Value—using eight detailed indicators.

JBNU received top national scores in most categories, including service outcomes, interactions and environment, and scored above 80 on all detailed evaluation items.

JBNU's sustained reputation as the university that delivers the highest student satisfaction is supported by the results of the Glocal University 30 initiative, AI-based educational innovations and student-centered support policies.

Over the past two years, JBNU has secured more than 800 billion won through large-scale government support programs, significantly expanding its innovation infrastructure. In particular, being selected in the first year of the Glocal University 30 project—a major national initiative for universities—has been recognized for producing tangible, student-centered outcomes.

Building on the Glocal University 30 project, JBNU has regionalized its admission units to strengthen students' choice of major and established an academic structure that students can design themselves, including increasing the rates of double majors and transfers. From the 2025 academic year, JBNU will consolidate the existing 106 departments into 46 admission units and admit new students without distinguishing by major. It has introduced a Module Major System, a Major Selection System and a Digital Competency Certification System so that any student can freely pursue the studies they want.

This year, JBNU was selected as the lead institution for the government's Physical AI core technology demonstration project. It has prepared a 3,300 m² on-campus demonstration space and plans to build a dedicated Physical AI campus covering 180,000 m² in the future. JBNU is creating an industry–university–research Physical AI Valley that will involve corporate research labs such as Hyundai Motor Company and Naver as well as leading domestic university research teams, positioning the university as a hub for future advanced industries.

The university is actively keeping pace with the societal transformation driven by AI. Last year, JBNU officially declared the 'On AI Era' and began integrating artificial intelligence across education, research and administration. It has built a next-generation integrated information system worth 20 billion won to streamline academic and administrative operations with AI. An AI tutor has been introduced into the learning management system to provide real-time support for students' learning and career planning. JBNU also operates an AI-based research funding management system and a dedicated immersive teaching facility called 'AI Space' to accelerate education innovation.

President Yang O-bong's 'student-engaged communication' approach has also generated high student satisfaction. By holding regular 'Communication Days' and 'Meetings with the President,' the university collects student feedback and reflects it in policy. Through this proactive dialogue, JBNU has expanded mixed-use welfare and study spaces such as the 'JBNU International Lounge' and the Central Library's Jungdo Lounge, receiving strong positive responses from students.

President Yang O-bong said, 'Even in an era when constant change and innovation are necessary to secure a university's future, the student must always remain at the heart of the institution. JBNU's honor of ranking first in the Service Quality Index Assessment for seven consecutive years is the result of the efforts of all members who have upheld the university's core values while leading future change, and above all it is thanks to the support of the students who trusted the university and challenged themselves together.'

He added, 'Going forward, we will continue to strengthen practical student services, dramatically improve student welfare and learning environments, and pursue measures to alleviate tuition burdens, expand scholarship programs and enhance career and employment support. Even today, on the path of change and innovation, we will more boldly pursue challenges and innovations to cultivate talent who will lead the nation and region and to become a university that realizes students' dreams.'
