Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Agricultural Startup Specialization Project Group (Director Hwang In-ho, Haengbok Startup PLAN) held a promotional event on November 11 in front of the campus announcement street clocktower to inform students, faculty and staff, and local residents about the value of agriculture and the Project Group's activities.
The event, held under the theme "A Step Toward Future Young Farmers," was organized to reaffirm the importance of agriculture and the need to nurture young entrepreneurial farmers. At the venue, organizers distributed "so-tteok so-tteok," using sausage and garaetteok (rice cake) to symbolize the livestock and horticulture sectors, and provided eomuk (fish cake), a representative winter snack, which received strong responses from attendees.
In addition, a quiz booth themed on Farmers' Day was operated, providing current students and faculty and staff with an enjoyable opportunity to learn about the meaning of agriculture.
Director Hwang In-ho said, "Farmers' Day is a meaningful day to express our gratitude for the efforts of the farmers who provide our tables," adding, "JBNU Agricultural Startup Specialization Project Group will continue to train professional young farmers who will lead future agriculture and actively support students so that they can grow into talents who combine entrepreneurship and field capabilities."
Deputy Director Lee Jun-gu stated, "The Project Group cultivates students' ability to enter the agricultural field immediately after graduation through practical programs such as field training, overseas study trips, and startup mentoring as well as theoretical education," and added, "I hope this event will serve as an opportunity for more students to take an interest in agriculture."
Students who participated in the event also said, "It was meaningful to learn the significance of Farmers' Day through the quiz," adding, "I learned for the first time that such a meaningful Project Group exists, and I want to tell my friends about it."
Meanwhile, JBNU Agricultural Startup Specialization Project Group is operated with support from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Korea Agency of Education, Promotion and Information Service in Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and provides a variety of programs for young farmers in the livestock and horticulture sectors, including practice-oriented entrepreneurship education, field training, extracurricular programs, and overseas study trips.
