Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) participated in the 'QS Higher Ed Summit Asia Pacific 2025', held at Korea University from November 4 to 6, and strengthened the university's global network and collaborative foundations through active exchanges with global higher education leaders.

The event, themed 'The Power to Unleash a Generation's Potential: Technology and Collaboration in the Asia-Pacific Region', attracted a large number of participants, including former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, the QS CEO, presidents of major Asia-Pacific universities, higher education experts, and representatives from global companies.

Participants broadly discussed how to develop the capacities of future generations and create a sustainable educational ecosystem in an era marked by rapid technological change and demographic transition.

During the event, JBNU set up a university exhibition booth to highlight its vision as a leader in the 'On AI Era' and to showcase its research and educational strengths. In particular, the university's global innovation projects attracted strong interest, including the Glocal University 30 Project, the establishment of a Physical AI pilot campus, the internationalization strategy for the Namwon Global Campus, and the JUIC Triangle (University–Industry–City Mutual Growth Model).

President Yang O-bong met with the QS CEO and presidents of overseas universities during the event to discuss practical cooperation measures such as international collaborative research, student exchange programs, building a global campus network, and attracting outstanding faculty.

In addition, headquarters officials including Vice Presidents Lee Dong-heon, Yoon Myung-suk, and Lee Jon-hwa participated in QS-hosted sessions such as 'Transformational Leadership in an Era of Challenge', 'Student Recruitment in the AI-Centric Era', 'Quantifying University AI Capabilities', and 'Interregional Collaboration to Strengthen Next-Generation Competencies', sharing higher education innovation cases centered on AI and regional collaboration.

At the event, JBNU also signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Malaysia's UTAR (Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman). The two universities agreed to pursue a range of cooperative initiatives, including collaborative research and academic exchange, student exchange programs and international student recruitment, and educational cooperation in AI and sustainability.

Through the event, JBNU reinforced its standing as an international hub university that, beyond merely improving university rankings, shares and benchmarks global higher education trends and innovations and expands opportunities for practical collaboration through networking with universities and education industry leaders in the Asia-Pacific region.

President Yang said, "Amid the rapid changes in global higher education, JBNU is advancing as a university that grows with the world centered on AI and sustainability," and added, "We will strengthen cooperation with international organizations such as QS to enhance the university's global brand value."
