Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) College of Dentistry Department of Pediatric Dentistry master's student Yura Park recently received the "Excellence Award for Oral Presentation" at the Autumn Scientific Meeting of the Korean Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. This marks her second consecutive year receiving the award, further recognizing her outstanding research capabilities.

At the conference, Ms. Park presented her research titled "Comprehensive Cephalometric Evaluation of the Biobloc Appliance in Class I Malocclusion."

The study analyzed standardized cephalometric radiographs taken before and after treatment using the Biobloc appliance to comprehensively evaluate the device's effects on skeletal structures, teeth, the airway, the tongue, and the hyoid bone.

In particular, the study was highly regarded for objectively demonstrating that the Biobloc appliance is not merely limited to arch expansion but is a functional treatment that promotes anterior facial growth and induces improvements in oral habits in growing children.

Yura Park said, "This study attempted a new approach that considered not only tooth alignment but also facial growth and the improvement of oral function in growing children. I feel greatly rewarded that these aspects were so highly evaluated." She added, "I will continue to do my best in both clinical practice and research for children's healthy development and beautiful smiles."
