Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Law School (Dean Jeong Young-seon) successfully held the 'Law School Alumni Night' on October 24 at Hotel Shilla Stay Jeonju.
'Law School Alumni Night' is JBNU Law School's annual homecoming event, which began in 2024 and is organized by each graduating class. After the inaugural event was hosted by the Class 1 graduates last year, this year the Class 2 graduates took the lead in preparing the event.
The event was attended by some 50 alumni from across the country, including Attorney Kim Jeong-hwan (Class 6), who led the suspension of the effect of former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo's nomination as a Constitutional Court justice during the impeachment crisis of former President Yoon Suk-yeol. In addition, about 100 people, including JBNU Vice-President Yoon Myung-sook, Alumni Association President Choi Byung-seon, Vice-Chairman Park Jin-ho of the Development Support Foundation, faculty, and current students, also participated.
At the event, scholarships were awarded to approximately ten students, including the Law School Alumni Scholarship and the Sanmin Han Seung-heon Scholarship. In addition, alumni attorneys and professors from JBNU Law School donated ₩43,400,000 to the development fund for the school's advancement, and plaques of appreciation were presented to graduates who had previously contributed to the fund.
Attending alumni commented, "It is meaningful to be able to gather in one place and interact even after graduation," and added, "This event has made us take greater interest in the school and in our juniors."
Dean Jeong Young-seon of the Law School said, "We are grateful to the graduates for their generous donations to the development fund for the school's advancement and for their support of younger students," and added, "I hope the Law School and the alumni association will continue to cooperate more closely and sustain further development."
