Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) and Kimyo International University of Uzbekistan have signed an international exchange agreement and will cooperate on implementing dual degree and student exchange programs going forward.

A delegation of seven led by Kimyo International University Chair Vakhabov Alisher Vasikovich visited JBNU on October 21 and met with President Yang O-bong to discuss ways to expand international exchange and cooperation between the two institutions and to sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).

This agreement was concluded as a return visit following President Yang O-bong's visit to Kimyo International University on October 3. It is significant in that substantive cooperation discussions have led to concrete outcomes.

Under the agreement, the two institutions agreed to actively promote a 2+2 dual degree program and student exchange programs. Through these initiatives, JBNU students will gain broader opportunities for international education, while students from Kimyo International University will have the opportunity to experience Korea's high-quality higher education environment.

They also agreed to develop joint educational programs and to continue practical cooperation not only in medical and health fields but also in expanding international student recruitment. This is expected to significantly support JBNU's goal of attracting 5,000 international students.

During the visit, the Kimyo delegation toured major campus facilities at JBNU and Jeonbuk National University Hospital to review the university's advanced educational and medical infrastructure. They were particularly impressed by the hospital's high level of medical capability and internationalization potential and pledged active cooperation in expanding student exchanges and establishing joint programs in the future.

President Yang O-bong emphasized, "The combination of JBNU's excellent educational and medical infrastructure and Kimyo International University's growth potential will create a win‑win model for both institutions," adding, "This will respond to the government's Glocal University 30 project and is expected to bring us closer to the goal of attracting 5,000 international students."

Kimyo International University is the first private international university located in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. It is a higher education institution with strengths in international exchange and operating dual degree programs. Recently, it has experienced rapid growth focused on science, engineering, and medical fields, expanding its network with leading overseas universities and emerging as an educational hub in Central Asia.
