Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition (Chair: Professor Noh Jeong-ok) has continued an alumni lecture series for three consecutive years, providing current students with practical opportunities to explore careers and receiving strong responses. The lectures were held as part of the College Education Innovation Project under the National University Development Program.

The Department increased the number of alumni speakers from five last year to ten this year, offering students a richer set of insights into employment in the food sector. Alumni working in diverse fields participated, ranging from researchers in health functional foods and national public research institutes (Korea Food Research Institute, National Institute of Food and Drug Safety Evaluation, Korea Food Industry Cluster Promotion Institute) to the National Health Insurance Service, the Social Welfare Meal Service Support Center, nutrition teachers, and clinical dietitians. They introduced undergraduate and graduate students to the wide range of career paths available to food and nutrition majors.

The lecture series, scheduled through December 18, features various speakers throughout the semester and has heightened students' anticipation.

Professor Noh Jeong-ok, chair of the department, emphasized, "The alumni lectures are not mere talks but opportunities for students to rediscover the value of their major and to concretize their own career roadmaps. Above all, the firsthand experiences shared by seniors carry more weight than textbooks."

Alumna Seoeunbi (Class of 2018, researcher at Unibera) advised, "Pursuing graduate studies after my undergraduate degree allowed me to develop my research capabilities, which proved to be an important stepping stone to becoming a researcher in healthy foods. I hope younger students will also find their own paths through diverse challenges."

Current students responded enthusiastically. Third-year student Lee Subin said, "After graduation I only thought of becoming a dietitian or a nutrition teacher, but listening to the seniors' stories made me realize there are many more paths. I look forward to seeing which choices I will make, building on this valuable experience," she said.
