Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Center for Gifted Education in Science (Director: Professor Jeong Deok-ho) is recruiting new students for the 2026 elementary and secondary advanced programs.
The Elementary Advanced Program will select 17 students each in mathematics, science, and convergence fields. The Secondary Advanced Program will recruit 15 students each in six fields: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, earth science, and information (SW).
Among these, students who have completed the joint online pre-education offered by the 27 university-affiliated Centers for Gifted Education in Science nationwide or the JBNU Center for Gifted Education in Science’s offline pre-education program, and applicants eligible for social integration, will be given five priority admission slots per field.
Applications will be accepted from October 27 to November 5 through the Center for Gifted Education in Science selection site (http://select.gifted.ac.kr).
Eligibility: For the Elementary Advanced Program, applicants must be current fifth-grade students at elementary schools located in Jeollabuk-do. For the Secondary Advanced Program, applicants must be current sixth-grade elementary or first-year middle school students. Out-of-school youth of the same grade and age who reside in Jeollabuk-do may also apply. All applicants must submit a teacher recommendation and a personal statement.
The selection process will begin with a first round on November 15 consisting of a Creative Problem-Solving Test, from which twice the number of available slots will be advanced. Final admissions will be decided following in-depth interviews on November 29.

The JBNU Center for Gifted Education in Science was established in 1998 and is operated with support from the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity. JBNU faculty and instructors with doctorates or higher teach the programs, and the center receives high evaluations annually by utilizing state-of-the-art educational facilities.
