Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Department of Molecular Biology graduate Dr. Cho Byeol-hee was appointed Senior Researcher at the Korea Institute for the Evaluation of Veterinary Drugs and began work in September.

Dr. Cho graduated from the Department of Molecular Biology at Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) in 2012 and earned her Ph.D. in 2024 from the Graduate School in the Department of Bioactive Material Sciences at the same university. Thereafter, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the JBNU G-Lamp Project Group at the Institute for Basic Research on Matter and Energy at JBNU, conducting research on the mechanism by which interactions between Siglec-F and its ligand regulate immune responses in immune cells to alleviate inflammation.

Over the past five years, Dr. Cho has published three SCIE-indexed articles. Representative papers include ‘Complement C5a Promotes antigen cross-presentation by Peyer’s patch mono cyte-derived dendritic cells and drives a protective CD8+ T cell respons’ (Impact Factor: 9.995, JCR Top 14.43%) and ‘The Papain-like Protease Domain of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 Conjugated with Human Beta-Defensin 2 and Co1 Induces Mucosal and Systemic Immune Responses against the Virus’ (Impact Factor: 5.2, JCR Top 18.24%).

Dr. Cho said, "It was a meaningful time during which I was able to carry out research and serve as a Principal Investigator (PI) through fellowship support from the JBNU G-Lamp Project Group," and added, "I hope the G-Lamp (LAMP) project will provide an opportunity for postdoctoral researchers to grow further."

Dr. Cho will design studies to evaluate the efficacy of drugs for the prevention and treatment of animal diseases at the Korea Institute for the Evaluation of Veterinary Drugs.
