Subramanian Kirtana, a PhD candidate at Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) College of Dentistry, has been recognized on the international academic stage for research on periodontal tissue regeneration.
Kirtana recently received the Outstanding Poster Award at the 44th scientific competition of the Korean Division of the International Association for Dental Research (KADR), held at Seoul BioHub.
Under the supervision of Professor Jeong-ho Yoon of the Department of Periodontology, Kirtana presented research entitled "Potential for Periodontal Tissue Regeneration via Modulation of Lysophosphatidic Acid Receptor 2 (LPAR2)."
The research was conducted as a collaborative study with Pusan National University and Stemden Co., Ltd. It attracted attention from the academic community as the first attempt to investigate the role of LPAR2 modulation using a preclinical beagle dog model of periodontal tissue defects.
In particular, the study identified the optimal therapeutic concentration and confirmed that regenerative efficacy can be enhanced. This is expected to provide important evidence for expanding clinical dental applications and for developing non-invasive regenerative treatment techniques.
Kirtana said, "I am greatly honored that my meaningful research outcomes were recognized at the conference," and added, "I will continue to do my utmost to develop new therapeutic strategies for periodontal tissue regeneration."
