“The 10th Championship Together With Jeonbuk National University (JBNU)”

JBNU and Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors Football Club (Club Director Lee Dohyun) demonstrated a shared passion last weekend through 'Partner Day'. With the match against Suwon FC in the '2025 Hana Bank K League 1, Round 33' designated as JBNU Partner Day on October 18 at 2:00 PM, more than 2,000 members of JBNU — including President Yang Oh-bong, faculty, staff, students, and international students — attended the stadium to cheer.

The event is part of an exchange program under the mutual cooperation agreement concluded in 2015 between JBNU and Jeonbuk Hyundai. Jeonbuk Hyundai designates one home match each year as JBNU Partner Day to practice regional co-prosperity and communication.

The fervent cheering began before the match kicked off. As a pre-match event, a promotional video for JBNU was screened, and President Yang Oh-bong and Gu Min-gi, President of the Student Council, wearing jerseys bearing the number 78 — symbolizing the university's 78th anniversary — performed the ceremonial kickoff to signal the start of the match.

Also, before the match, the stadium scoreboard featured a staring contest and a rock-paper-scissors game between JBNU President Yang Oh-bong and spectators, offering additional entertainment to many who had come to the stadium.

Members of JBNU showcased a passionate cheering culture, singing the team's chants together while wearing Jeonbuk Hyundai's signature green jerseys. The atmosphere intensified, particularly because the match took place while Jeonbuk Hyundai was contesting the regular-season title for the first time in four years.

That day Jeonbuk Hyundai secured a 2–0 victory with consecutive goals from Kompanyo and Thiago, clinching the title early and adding to the joy of JBNU Partner Day.

President Yang Oh-bong remained after the final whistle and personally shook hands with students and staff who had cheered until the end, sharing in the joy of victory.

President Yang said, “JBNU and Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors share the commonality of being prominent regional brands representing the Republic of Korea,” adding, “We will continue to contribute to regional development through strong ties and cooperation, and pursue greater challenges and growth together.”
