Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Divsion of Public Science student Kim Yunsu has been honored with a commendation from the Commissioner General of the National Police Agency for three consecutive years.
Since 2023, Kim has served as a cyber honorary police officer with the National Police Agency's 'NuriCops' and was awarded a commendation after placing second nationwide in the online concentrated reporting campaign for illegal weapons and harmful information held this May. He received commendations for outstanding performance in the same campaign last year and the year before, making this his third consecutive year to be honored.
'NuriCops' is a compound of 'nuri' (netizen's world) and 'cops' and is a civilian–police cooperation system launched by the Investigation Bureau of the National Police Agency in 2007. It is an unpaid honorary cyber police service that monitors and reports illegal and harmful information online and cooperates on various cyber policies. Each year, the National Police Agency runs focused reporting campaigns on specific topics and awards commendations from the Commissioner General to outstanding participants.
According to the 'Rules on Police Commendations and the Awarding of Police Medals, etc.,' a commendation is awarded in cases where an individual has made a significant contribution through active cooperation with police work or has enhanced the public standing of the police. Kim's sustained activities are an example of recognized efforts that enhance the public service of the police and contribute to society.
Preparing to enter the Law School, Kim Yunsu said, "I will continue to take the lead in eradicating illegal and harmful information and become a legal professional who defends justice and human rights."
