Kwak Ye-ji (left) and Yang Woo-kyung (right), master’s students in the Energy Materials Laboratory, Division of Chemical Engineering, Jeonbuk National University (JBNU), under the supervision of Professor Kim Seong-seop, have been selected for the Research Encouragement Grant Program for Master’s Students in Science and Engineering administered by the National Research Foundation of Korea.

This selection formally recognizes the two students’ excellent research capabilities and growth potential, and is expected to contribute to invigorating graduate research activities.

Yang Woo-kyung proposed a research topic titled “Development of Polymer-Blend Self-Assembly-Based Mesoporous Carbon Materials for Platinum Catalyst Support in Hydrogen Fuel Cells,” which is expected to contribute to the advancement of next-generation clean energy systems.

Meanwhile, Kwak Ye-ji’s research, “Development of Single-Atom Pt/Mesoporous Tungsten Nitride Catalysts for High-Performance Ammonia Oxidation Reactions,” received high evaluation for demonstrating the feasibility of environmentally friendly nitrogen cycling technologies.

Through this Research Encouragement Grant, the two students have secured research funding and a stable research environment, enabling them to continue creative and challenging research. JBNU plans to continue supporting the development of research talent with the aim of strengthening graduate students’ research capabilities and disseminating research outcomes.

Professor Kim Seong-seop said, "This selection has once again demonstrated the potential and research competitiveness of our laboratory’s graduate students," and added, "We will continue to provide active research support to secure foundational technologies in the fields of future energy and catalysis."
