Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition is preparing to launch a module major and a Foodservice Entrepreneurship Micro-Degree as part of the Glocal University 30 Project. The initiative aims to improve students' practical skills in the food and foodservice sectors and strengthen their entrepreneurial capabilities.
To this end, the Department has invited experts in foodservice entrepreneurship to give special lectures in October and November, and it has organized program briefings. Entrepreneurs currently active in the field will participate in the lectures to share firsthand field experience and the realities of starting a business.
The first session on October 20 will feature Park Min-kyung, CEO of Huurin Cafe, at 10:00 a.m., and Park Gong-yeol, CEO of Comheal, at 11:30 a.m. On October 23, Im Mi-rae, CEO of Cooking Studio, will speak at 2:00 p.m., followed by Choi Hye-sook, CEO of Jigwanseoga, at 3:30 p.m.
Finally, on November 27 at 3:00 p.m., Jeonju craft beer brand 'Maekrak' CEO Jung Seung-yeon will meet with students to share personal startup experiences and practical insights into the food and foodservice industries. On the same day at 5:00 p.m., Professor No Jeong-ok, Chair of the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition, will hold a 'Foodservice Entrepreneurship Micro-Degree Program Briefing' and provide students with detailed guidance on enrollment and participation.
JBNU's Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition expects that this Micro-Degree program will not only offer its students a practical pathway to move from academic knowledge to actual entrepreneurship and the foodservice industry, but also open new career-planning opportunities for students from other departments by integrating food and foodservice elements.
Professor No Jeong-ok, the department chair, said, "This Micro-Degree program will be a convergent educational model that goes beyond simple major enrichment to encompass entrepreneurial capabilities in the food and foodservice sectors. Any student interested in food and foodservice entrepreneurship may participate, regardless of departmental affiliation."
