Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) held a student dialogue session on the evening of October 13 at a restaurant near campus, attended by students and key administrative faculty.
Since taking office, President Yang Oh-bong has been holding face-to-face dialogue sessions with students to hear their perspectives directly and to incorporate them into university operations and measures to enhance student welfare.
In particular, held at a restaurant near the campus in an informal atmosphere, the sessions have featured the president and students sharing candid views about campus life over beer, which has also provided significant support to the local business district around the university.
About 30 people attended the session, including President Yang Oh-bong, key administrative faculty, officers of student self-governing bodies including Student Council President Gu Min-gi, and other students.
Students directly conveyed various proposals to the president, such as improvements to the learning environment and expanded support for autonomous student activities. President Yang and the administrative faculty listened attentively and engaged in in-depth discussions.
Gu Min-gi, President of the Student Council, said, 'Following last semester, this dialogue session provided a meaningful opportunity for students to convey inconveniences and areas for improvement they experience in daily life directly to the president and receive immediate feedback. As a student self-governance body, we are very pleased to be able to contribute to the university's development.'
President Yang Oh-bong said, 'Students' diverse opinions are the university's greatest asset for growth and development,' and added, 'We will continue to listen to and reflect students' views, and strive to take the lead in realizing a more student-centered university.'
