Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) announced on the 2nd that it won the 'Challenger League' at the 16th Minister of Education's Cup National Public University Staff Football Tournament, held recently in Busan.
Organized by Korea Maritime and Ocean University, the tournament featured staff football teams from 20 national and public universities across the country and was held over three days. JBNU demonstrated outstanding performance from the preliminary round through the final and secured the championship.
In addition to the team award, individual awards were also notable. The Most Valuable Player (MVP) award went to Lee Sang-geun, Reserve Company Commander, Integrated Administrative Office, College of Veterinary Medicine. The top scorer award went to Im Tae-gyu, a teaching assistant in the Divsion of Public Science.
Heo Yeon, President of JBNU's Football Club, commented, "Having achieved this result through consistent training and teamwork, we plan to continue promoting staff sports activities to contribute to creating a healthy campus culture."
