A forum was held to share the outstanding regional achievements of the RIS Shared University implemented across nine regional innovation platforms, including Jeollabuk-do Special Self-Governing Province, through the local government–university collaboration-based Regional Innovation Project (hereinafter RIS project).

Jeonbuk National University (JBNU), which serves as the host university for the Jeonbuk Regional Innovation Platform, announced that representatives from nine regional innovation platforms gathered at the Signiel Hotel, Busan, on the 23rd and 24th to share educational achievements under the theme 'Shared Universities Leading Educational Innovation in the Region' and to seek joint development measures.

The forum, which was also held online, began with a keynote presentation by Jwa Yong-ju, Head of the University Education Innovation Headquarters of the Ulsan–Gyeongnam Regional Innovation Platform, titled 'Challenges for the Sustainable Development of Shared Universities: Quality Assurance in Higher Education.' This was followed by presentations of outstanding educational cases from each platform.

In particular, Choi Jin-ha, Deputy Head of the University Education Innovation Headquarters of the Jeonbuk Regional Innovation Platform, presented the case 'Establishing a Convergent Major Curriculum System for the JST Shared University and Operating Co-curricular Programs Linked to Core Areas.' Through this presentation, he shared Jeollabuk-do's unique know-how for training practical, field-ready talent by establishing three majors—Future Mobility (lead university: JBNU), New Energy Industries (lead university: Gunsan National University), and Agri-Life & Bio (lead university: Wonkwang University).

Following the same theme, a panel discussion was chaired by Jeong Jong-cheol, Director of the Lifelong Education Center at Kyungpook National University (former Vice Minister of Education), with panelists including Min Hye-ri, Research Professor at Seoul National University, and Jang Gwang-nam, Associate Research Fellow at the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training.

Lee Gyo-woo, Head of the RIS University Education Innovation Headquarters of the Jeonbuk Regional Innovation Platform, stated, "This forum provided a meaningful opportunity to discuss employment-linked convergent major education tailored to the characteristics of the Jeonbuk region ahead of the 2025 transition to the Regional Innovation-centered University Support System (RISE)." He added, "We will continue to cultivate innovative talent to settle in the Jeonbuk region and proactively contribute to regional development and to strengthening the role of universities."
