Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) (President Yang Oh-bong) will launch the 'Visiting UNI4U Special Lectures,' in which faculty members visit local high schools to provide practical information about their majors, beginning May 27.

Launched last year, the lecture series received strong feedback as faculty members visited high school classrooms in person to address students' questions about each field.

With the growing emphasis on career education in high school settings this year, the number of courses has increased significantly from 29 last year to 55 this year.

This year, beginning on May 27 with Professor Kim Hee-dae of the Department of Semiconductor Science and Technology visiting Jeonbuk Science High School to convey a range of information about his field, professors from majors such as Medicine, Nursing, Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence, Chemical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Public Administration, International Humanities and Social Sciences, and Philosophy will visit high schools in sequence.

The program will target approximately 4,700 students at 32 high schools across North Jeolla Province. Through detailed lectures on the characteristics of each major, curricula, graduation and employment, the program aims to help high school students select their majors in a self-directed manner.

Ju Ho-jong, Vice-President of the Office of Admission at JBNU, said, 'The faculty-led lectures drew a strong response last year as professors met high school students in person and addressed their questions about academic fields. In addition to faculty-led major lectures, we will continue to work with high schools and support students' career activities through a variety of career and college-admission programs.'
