Da-bin Cheon, a Master's student in the Department of Applied Plasma Engineering (supervisor: Professor Seunghwa Yu), received the Outstanding Poster Award at the 2024 Spring Meeting of the Korean Nuclear Society held recently on Jeju Island.
Da-bin Cheon presented research titled "Effective Dispersion of BNNT through Electron Beam Induced Graft Polymerization" and was recognized for its excellence.
BNNT (Boron Nitride Nanotubes), regarded as a next-generation nanomaterial, requires appropriate dispersion for practical use. In this study, Cheon attempted electron beam graft polymerization as a method to achieve this and subsequently evaluated the dispersion behavior.
Da-bin Cheon stated, "I conducted research on techniques to effectively disperse BNNT in various solvents, and I would like to carry out follow-up research applying these results to composite materials. Above all, I am grateful to Professor Seunghwa Yu for providing generous guidance that enabled good research outcomes, and I will continue to work hard and make further progress."
Meanwhile, Professor Seunghwa Yu's research team is actively conducting a wide range of research on the fabrication, analysis, and application of various materials — including carbon, polymers, composites, and semiconductors — by controlling the effects of quantum beam (electron beam, proton beam, ion beam, photon beam, etc.) irradiation on materials to enable advanced new-material production and property enhancement.
