Graduate School of Legal Affairs Professors Tae-shin Park and Su-young Park received the Han Dong-ho Academic Award (Best Paper Award) at the '2024 Korean Insurance Association Annual Meeting and 60th Anniversary Academic Conference' held at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry on May 10, 2024.

The award was established in 2011 by the Korean Insurance Association, the leading academic society in the insurance field founded in 1964, to honor the contributions to insurance studies of its inaugural president, the late Professor Han Dong-ho of Sungkyunkwan University. It is presented annually to the author(s) of the most outstanding paper published in the association's journal.

Professors Tae-shin Park and Su-young Park were honored for their jointly authored paper published in the Korean Journal of Insurance in October last year, titled 'Measures to Improve Underwriting and Claims Review and Supervisory Administration for Indemnity Medical Insurance Related to False and Excessive Treatment.'

The paper proposes improvements to the indemnity medical insurance system based on the specific cause of false and excessive treatment. It suggests measures from the perspectives of insurance contract underwriting, claims review, and supervisory administration to prevent false and excessive treatment.

Professors Tae-shin Park and Su-young Park commented, 'Through this research, we sought to indicate the proper direction for the operation of indemnity insurance,' and added, 'We will continue to conduct diverse legal and institutional research related to the insurance industry.'
