Jeonbuk National University (JBNU), in partnership with the Korea Association of Real Estate Appraisers, has established the country's first "Appraisal-Linked Major" this year, and will hold a seminar and an endowment donation ceremony to commemorate the launch.

The Appraisal-Linked Major, operated for the first time in the country from this semester, was jointly established last November by JBNU and the Korea Association of Real Estate Appraisers, who shared a commitment to cultivate talent needed for the appraisal industry, a market valued at KRW 1 trillion. Spearheaded by the Divsion of Public Science, the program involves the Department of Agricultural Economics, Department of Urban Engineering, Department of Statistics, Department of Environmental Engineering, and Department of Accounting.

To celebrate the program's launch and strengthen networks with appraisers, a networking seminar and a special lecture for appraisers will be held on May 22 at 2:30 PM in Donghaeng Hall at the JBNU New Silk Road Center.

At the seminar, Professor Heo Gang-mu, who led the major's establishment by concluding a memorandum of understanding with the association while serving as Dean of the Jimmy Carter School of International Studies, will introduce the major as its lead faculty member. JBNU alumni appraisers will also participate directly to deliver special lectures focusing on the role of appraisers and exam experiences and tips.

In particular, the Korea Association of Real Estate Appraisers (President Yang Gil-su), which provided major support for establishing the linked major, will donate KRW 20 million to JBNU on the day to support the program's stable operation and establishment.

The seminar and special lectures are open not only to students majoring in related fields but to any enrolled students who are interested in the appraisal profession.

In February, JBNU signed agreements with public enterprises including the Korea Land & Housing Corporation, the Korea Real Estate Board, and the Korea Real Estate Research Institute in support of the Appraisal-Linked Major. Through these agreements, they established a foundation for training specialized personnel for the appraisal industry and for joint research and education, and a variety of employment-related opportunities will be available to JBNU students in the future.
