Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) announced on the 14th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Canada's Université Laval, which possesses world-class research capabilities in artificial intelligence (AI), to collaborate on AI-related research and talent development.
It also agreed to cooperate on joint research for AI applications with leading Montreal-based academic–industry research institutes in artificial intelligence and data science, such as IVADO (Institut de valorisation des données) and Institut Courtois, affiliated with Université de Montréal.
The agreements with Université Laval and Université de Montréal were concluded on the sidelines of the '2024 International AI Expo – AI Global Expansion Day' held recently at COEX in Seoul.
This agreement is expected to provide a major impetus for JBNU, which has been pursuing diverse approaches to integrating artificial intelligence into education and research, as it moves toward the future.
President Yang O-bong said, 'The outcomes of cooperation with major Canadian universities are expected to enhance JBNU's educational and research competitiveness and serve as an important stepping stone for establishing a foundation for smart industrial collaboration through the integration of AI technologies.' He added, 'We will do our utmost to expand cooperation with Canada's leading universities and research institutions, which invest heavily in AI, so that JBNU can produce world-class research outcomes.'
