Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) College of Engineering (Dean Na Chang-woon) and the College of Engineering of the Indonesian National University (Dean Heri Hermansyah) have agreed to cooperate on collaborative research and personnel and material exchanges.
Dean Heri and his delegation from the College of Engineering of the Indonesian National University visited JBNU College of Engineering on May 13 and signed an Agreement for Implementation.
At the meeting, the two institutions introduced their respective areas of strength, discussed in depth possible forms of cooperation in education and research, and agreed on an implementation plan.
The agreed implementation plan includes a provision to promote broad personnel and material exchanges in education and research.
The Indonesian National University, one of Indonesia's most prestigious universities, is ranked 237th in the QS World University Rankings. That the Indonesian National University, which admits only top students in Indonesia, has agreed to cooperate with JBNU reflects the attractiveness of JBNU's outstanding research infrastructure and faculty resources.
In July last year, Department Head Bambang Heru of the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Indonesian National University and his delegation visited Professor Yoon Young-sang, Director of Graduate Studies of the Division of Chemical Engineering at JBNU, to review research outcomes in advanced technology fields such as semiconductors, secondary batteries, and biotechnology. They are currently on the verge of launching an international collaborative research project.
The JBNU Division of Chemical Engineering boasts global research competitiveness, ranking 167th in the field of Chemical Engineering in the U.S. News world university rankings.
Professor Yoon Young-sang said, "This agreement will serve as an opportunity for the cooperation that began in the Division of Chemical Engineering to expand to the entire College of Engineering," adding, "We will demonstrate tangible international cooperation outcomes going forward."
Dean Na Chang-woon of the College of Engineering said, "We plan to pursue international collaborative research by mutually utilizing the Indonesian National University's excellent human resources, a reservoir of global talent, and JBNU's research infrastructure, and to develop various forms of international cooperation such as joint international research, recruitment of graduate students, dual-degree programs, and personnel exchanges."
