Jeonbuk National University (JBNU), President Yang Oh-bong, carried out a safety culture promotion campaign with partner agencies for two days, on May 8 and 9, during the Daedongje festival. This initiative was part of efforts to raise students' safety awareness and to spread a culture of safety.

The Division of Health and Safety at JBNU stated that over the two days it conducted a campaign under the theme "Safety — Always Observe It!" together with the Jeonju Regional Office of the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the Jeonbuk Regional Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, and the Safety Culture Practice Promotion Team.

During the campaign, promotional materials bearing the safety message "Please choose a safe workplace when seeking employment" were distributed to JBNU students to raise safety awareness. A variety of safety and health experience booths were also provided.

At the safety and health experience booths, programs for university community participation were carried out, including CPR practical training; a safety roulette activity; explanations of safety posters; and training on wearing protective equipment. These activities aimed to promote safety culture and to foster a work environment free from accidents while raising members' safety awareness.

President Yang Oh-bong of JBNU expressed his gratitude to the university community and to officials from the Jeonju Regional Office of the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the Jeonbuk Regional Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency, and the Safety Culture Practice Promotion Team for participating in the campaign to raise safety awareness. He added, "I hope JBNU students enter society with a commitment to practicing safety as future workers and with the mindset of making safety a daily habit."

Meanwhile, JBNU joined the public–private Safety Culture Practice Promotion Team in 2024 and has taken a leading role in promoting safety culture in the region.
